Plant simulation software designed to aid optimization.
Industrial IT (10/29) reports, "Product Lifecycle Management Australasia (PLMA) has released Siemens software," called the Plant Simulation suite, "which simulates plants to help optimize throughputs and relieve bottlenecks in the facilities." The suite "is used to create hierarchical models of production facilities, lines and processes, as well as storage and warehousing operations." According to the article, "object-oriented architecture and modeling capabilities within the software allow the creation and maintenance of highly complex systems, including advanced control mechanisms." Following the creation of "models, users can analyze the impact of different production variations," basically allowing operators to "carry out 'what-if' type simulations and optimizations before committing to real-world implementation."
