uffett-Backed Chinese Automaker Plans US Plug-In Car Sales In 2011.

Bloomberg News (1/13, Ortolani) reports, "BYD Co., the Chinese automaker backed by billionaire investor Warren Buffett, plans to bring plug-in hybrids to the US in 2011 to test demand for electric vehicles." Among the models to come are "the F3DM sedan, which is now sold in China, Shenzhen-based BYD said." The article notes, "BYD's entry expands the competition for buyers of electric autos in the world's largest auto market. General Motors Corp. plans to introduce its Volt in late 2010, while Toyota Motor Corp., the biggest seller of hybrid vehicles, is working on a plug-in version of its Prius."
